We 5x'd our follows in 24hrs

Hey Reader,

This year as I'm thinking about how to do more (aligned) collabs to get in front of the right audiences the stat that's blowing my mind this week is Beast Games season 2 had 43 creators on site to film collaborations during filming... it's no wonder there's so many Beast Games videos on YouTube right now.

We Wrote That

Running your own business means doing a little bit of everything, and getting pulled in tons of directions every week. This leaves little time to work on your own goals if you aren’t proactively setting aside time to work on them.

In The Breakroom our membership for creative service providers, we ended last year with a masterclass all about intentionally planning out your North Star & big goals going into 2026 (there’s a replay available inside the membership).

Now that we’re 2 weeks into 2026, though, how can you set up structure and habits that help you stick with all the intentions you set for the year?

Below we’ve put together a list of 5 ways that you can stick with the goals you set for yourself & your business this year

#1 Partner with an Accountability Buddy to Stay on Track

When you were on holiday planning out your year, you didn’t have clients emailing you, project deadlines looming on your calendar, or having drop off & pick up your kids at school. It’s really easy to come back from a break and jump right back into the rhythm of letting your calendar & email inbox manage your priorities each week, with little regard to those visionary goals you were hoping to achieve... Overheard in The Breakroom

It's not just surface level convos in The Breakroom, we talk about the hard parts of running your business as well - see the details here

The Messy Middle

For The Breakroom we have 2 calls each week - which gives us 2 scheduled opportunities to post a story tagging everyone on the call to letting us show up in front of their audience if they repost (don't hate the player hate the game... I said I was thinking about collabs...).

This week for our Content Planning Workshop* we decided to switch it up:

The Experiment: Rather than us taking the zoom selfie and posting it for everyone to repost. We flipped the script and asked them to take their own photos and post about attending.

The Results: On average in the 24 hours trailing a normal call/repost story we'll gain 0-3 followers on average. By having everyone use their own voice we're in the ball park of +15 followers in the last 24 hrs. (A couple are from threads)

Moving Forward: We're going to be moving towards a scheduled "selfie time" during our Breakroom calls where we're going to ask people to take their own photos and share in their own words on stories. (Of course it's optional, however they all get affiliate income if someone signs up based on their rec)

*There's a replay available for the workshop inside The Breakroom if you want to have fun with your content again on Instagram.

Resource of the Week

One of my favorite email lists is Justin Welsh's The Saturday Solopreneur. His email last week was called Nobody's even trying, and Jo & I have been thinking about how he wrapped up the email all week. Asking ourselves, how do we show up & make it easy for people to do business with us?

The Hasbrouck House had a 300-year-old building, a perfect location, great food, and they still couldn't make it work.
But they didn't lose to a competitor with better food or a nicer space. They lost to themselves. They stopped paying attention to whether people felt taken care of when they walked through the door.
The game isn't as hard as everyone thinks. The bar is on the floor. Showing up and making it easy for people to do business with you puts you ahead of almost everyone.

Week two of this new style - are you liking it?

See ya next week,

Lyndon

Ps, if you sign up for The Breakroom in January, you'll get this custom Breakroom Hydroflask Tumbler.
