What you didn't see behind the scenes

Hey Reader,

Holy moly, a lot has happened in the past week.

We hosted our first Content Day.

Signed 3 (!!!) new coaching clients.

Started offering 7-day trials for The Breakroom.

Celebrated our birthday!!

Plus, all the fun life moments that happened in-between.

Lately, we've been feeling very blessed. And I have a lot to say about it.

The Messy Middle

The past couple of weeks have felt like a pretty big shift for us in our business. Like I mentioned above, we've experienced some pretty exciting wins. New clients. More members signing up for The Breakroom. Getting to meet our members IRL. (To name a few.)

But, if you had talked to us a couple months ago you would have gotten a different side of the story.

It felt like nothing was happening.

That wasn't true lol, but it felt that way.

And I want to talk about this because this is a trap that A LOT of business owners fall into, ourselves included (as stated).

When sales dip, so do your spirits.

When a client reaches out needing to pause/cancel, you lose all motivation to market your services.

And that's normal!! It's nothing to beat yourself up over. However, there's always ways you can build momentum for your business.

Historically, Dec-Feb are slower sales months for us and many other service providers. Everyone's clocked off, in holiday mode, and then recovering from the holidays. But when you go from consistent cashflow to crickets, that can be pretty jarring. But, again: there's always ways you can build back momentum.

What you're seeing right now in our business is the result of a lot of relentless and intentional behind-the-scenes work that we did. I'm gonna walk you through a few of those pieces:

#1: We started praying every morning.

One of our favorite books is The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson. We read it last year and it really resonated with us. The follow-up book is Draw the Circle, which is essentially a 30-day prayer challenge. You grab a buddy, set a time to pray together every day, and choose the thing you want to pray over.

Then you pray. Every day. Repeatedly.

And look, that doesn't mean things will start turning around overnight. But it's an act of faith. It's you showing up and telling God repeatedly "hey, I trust you. I'm here and I know you care. Here's what I'm laying down and asking you to help me with right now."

Prayer is powerful. I fully believe that. I just checked the calendar and we started praying consistently 44 days ago. The fact that so much has unfolded in the past couple of weeks? I don't think that's a coincidence.

But it's also not the only part of the equation.

#2: Lyndon hopped on market research calls.

A couple weeks into praying consistently, we started getting a lot of clarity on things. Ways we needed to clarify our messaging. Unique-to-us frameworks to use in our coaching calls. What our "Queen bee role" is (comes from the book Clockwork).

One big piece was, we needed a coaching offer that filled the gap between our membership and high-level coaching (ie: more support, more often).

So Lyndon started doing market research calls. He chatted with multiple business owners about what they needed, took all that data, and The Strategic Accountability offer was born.

We sold 3 spots in one week (a fourth is in the works), without sharing anything about it on our social media.

So yes, prayer absolutely works. But you've also gotta put in the work, too.

There's a lot more I could share on this, but I'll leave it there for now. Just know, there's ALWAYS ways you can build momentum for your business. If things feel like they're not where you want them right now, start experimenting. Try new things. Have conversations. Hop on some market research calls. And yeah, try adding prayer into the mix too.

When creative business owners hit a low sales month, panic usually sets in. You feel an urgent need to increase the bottom line, which often leads to rushing your sales activities.

Kendra beautifully describes this anxious energy as a "rolling boil". When you are boiling, you operate with urgency, expecting everyone to love your offer immediately. It feels similar to going to the grocery store when you are hungry, everything looks good, and you buy too much; you want to convert in every DM conversation because you feel desperate for a sale. This forced energy never feels good for you or your potential client.

Instead, the goal is to "simmer"...

How to Pivot Mid-Launch (without Devaluing your offer):

When you find yourself in the middle of a launch week that isn't going according to plan, it is incredibly easy to panic. You might start wondering if your offer is actually good, if you muddied your messaging by going too broad, or if you completely missed the mark with your audience.

In reality, a slow start to a launch doesn't necessarily mean your business is failing or your offer is bad. Often, it just means you are asking overwhelmed consumers to make a high-ticket decision in too short of a window, and you need to pull a few strategic levers to save the launch.

Overheard in The Breakroom

Our big goal is to work with 180 Creative Entrepreneurs in 2026.

To track our progress, Lyndon designed this paint-by-numbers style mountain so that we can fill in a section for each new client we work with (and before you ask, you can see a tutorial on how he designed it when you join The Breakroom). 😉

Well, every month inside The Breakroom we do exclusive EOM reports, sharing everything we tried behind-the-scenes to accelerate our progress. What worked, what didn't, what we're going to keep doing, the new ideas/actions we're experimenting with.

We just shared February's report and...everyone is LOVING it. 😅

Hey Reader, We were interviewed for 2 podcasts this week. And it was such a fun experience being on the other side of the "table", since we're putting a lot of thought into being a good podcast interviewer right now. When was the last time you put yourself in the "customer" side of your offer? I basically have 3 states during a work day: on a call, talking to jo, or wearing headphones listening to music... and I've realized I listen to the same 4 playlists a lot. Hey Reader, This week OpenAI announced they're shutting down Sora, their AI video generation app. And honestly, I feel like that says a lot about what people actually want. While it caused a bunch of viral content, I feel like if they're shutting it down they're seeing that people aren't actually using it (or willing to pay for it)... and I believe that people still want to see content made by real people that tells real stories, not just bunnies jumping on a trampoline.
