Slow down, you're doing fine 🎶🫶🏼

Hi Reader,

With the seasons changing ,I've been doing a lot of introspective work lately which has led me to realize I needed to re-establish weekly rhythms for myself that are more supportive > stressful. Today, I thought I'd give you a peek behind the curtain on what that looks like.

How I'm shifting my weekly rhythms:

Mondays are for easing into the week:

A few weeks ago, I realized Mondays were not working for me. Coming straight from the weekend where I'd mentally clocked off of everything, into a new week with calls and responsibilities felt like a jump-scare.

So I started playing with ideas on how to create a transition plan for going from weekend mode → work mode. Here's what I've learned helps me so far:

  • Doing my hair, in addition to makeup, on Mondays signals to my brain that it's okay to look good/feel good, and helps me start the week on a positive note
  • Laying out my outfits for the week on Sunday night relieves brain calories I don't want to deal with, re: figuring out what to wear each week (AND, as someone who lives in a fixer upper & works from home, I'm channeling the energy of "acting as if I'm going out" when picking out my outfits).
  • Beginning to shift our calendar so that Monday's are "on the business" days and low/no-call days
  • I also choose three words for the week & create a fun mood board over the weekend that help me visualize how I want to feel and ideas for outfits/activities (thanks to @ashleighchenry for this idea)!

Giving myself permission to do things I enjoy:

This one is a funny one, because I had no idea how much I was suppressing my own enjoyment. It's easy to get caught up in the every day minutia and "what's next" mentality. Re-learning to slow down and re-engage in the things that bring me joy has been so healing already. For instance:

  • Visiting a coffee shop once a week brings me so much joy, gets me out of the house, and creatively energizes me
  • I'm going to a pilates class in the next week, something I realized over the summer that I actually really enjoy
  • Playing more music (Olivia Dean is my favorite right now) that I love
  • Lighting candles while I work or read/journal

And that segues quite nicely into...

How I'm creating more ease in my life:

Last week was such a good week, we had five new members sign up for The Breakroom and really good coaching calls all week. Naturally my nervous system wanted to freak out afterwards and see this stack of wins as a "one hit wonder". I realized that I have a limiting belief that life is hard, so I'm re-writing the narrative and allowing myself to notice that, "It gets to be easy". Here's how I'm putting that belief into practice:

  • Today we signed up for Walmart+ so that we can get free deliveries to our door for groceries & I cannot tell you how excited I am for that
  • Letting L make meals throughout the week (and just in general, telling him what I need and vice verse)
  • Creating a whole spa experience for myself - epsom salt bath, spa music playlist, Poppi in a wineglass, and a novel (currently reading "If It Makes You Happy" and I love it so much!!)
  • Building repeatable processes for our launches & offers (ie: this week we re-launched our group program, Pivoting in Public, and having the graphics and social proof ready to go has been so good for my nervous system) 🙌🏼

In general, I'm allowing myself to enjoy life and truly celebrate our wins, which signals to my nervous system that it's safe to feel excited and happy.

After only a couple of weeks of putting these things into practice, it's already making a huge difference in how I feel and show up!

Okay, now it's your turn! What rhythms have been making a difference for you lately? Hit reply and tell me, I'd love to know!

We're going with a summer throwback since it feels like spring in Indy right now Hey Reader, Welcome back! After two weeks off from writing our weekly emails, we're coming back to you with a new idea of what our email in 2026 could look like. Below in the Messy Middle we'll break down why we're making this change. We Wrote That You had a great discovery call, the client was excited about starting to work with you, and they paid their deposit with no hesitation - they seemed like an ideal...

Hi Reader, In a little under 3 weeks we've done 3000+ miles of driving, not including our normal driving while at home. Across all those miles we followed a trusty GPS to get us to where we were going. But even with that, one missed turn would delay how long it would take us to get to our destination. If we go back as little as one or two centuries, there was no GPS or even printed maps - traveling was based on understanding the direction you were heading (and/or traveling with someone who's...

Hi Reader, Like much of the entrepreneurial world, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on this year. The beginning of this year took us both by surprise in ways we didn’t expect. Like many of us, we came into the year with big goals and aspirations. We started taking action on those goals & making them known, only to be met with resistance we didn’t anticipate (something that doesn’t shock me at all now, but at the time felt like a blow to the stomach). There’s a phrase that is attributed to...
